Dual Enrollment- college while in high school

DUAL ENROLLMENT

ADVANTAGES:

Dual enrollment is an opportunity to acquire college credit during high school, expose students to a classroom setting, gain confidence in a college setting, acquire time management skills and meet deadlines, fill in any gaps, and validate a transcript. The cost is minimal. A one-semester class (3 credit hours) at the community college counts as a 1-year high school credit on a transcript. Your student will obtain both college credit and high school credit; however, not all college credit transfers to 4-year colleges. You can always check with individual colleges to learn of their transfer policy. If your student is college bound, validation of a transcript with college classes (and/or AP classes) can be beneficial, especially to some of the more competitive colleges and universities.
