I want to thank you for taking the time to check out Homeschoolconsult.com. I hope I can be a source of encouragement and support on your journey whether you have been homeschooling for years, just starting out, or are contemplating homeschooling. About 20 years ago, we started our homeschool journey in Monterey, CA. I read every education book I could get my hands on, books written from both a homeschool and public school perspective. My approach was literally “One Year at a Time”. And Yes, I had some fear. Every year I reassessed our homeschool, researched, investigated, made changes if necessary and prayed I would not “mess up” my kids. My son jokes that by “not messing him up”, I “messed him up”. I think he took that quote from the show “House”. What started as homeschooling for academic reasons evolved into so much more. Never one to “follow the crowd”, I definitely took some risks and can tell you it has been an amazing journey. Duke University, UNC-Chapel Hill, School of the Arts, Medical School, Graduate School, my children are doing well. Best of all, they have wonderful close relationships with each other. I plan to share what I learned along the way.
